Westminster Presbyterian Church & Habitat for Humanity
A 20 Year Relationship
We began the 2016 Habitat Build by celebrating Carson Salyer, who initially engaged Westminster in joining hands with Habitat. Because of Carson, Westminster completed its 20th consecutive solo build this year, and, in addition, has co-built three additional homes with other Nashville Presbyterian churces.
Headed by an energetic and enthusiastic team, the walls were up by midmorning of the initial Saturday, and by 2:30 p.m. that day, the first truss was installed. The home was completed over four weekends, as dedicated teams hung siding and sheet rock, painted and planted, cleaned and set up the mailbox.
Food was in abundance throughout the build with enough to feed our crews and many folks from other build sites.
Kurdish immigrants and new American citizens Sozan and Ahmad, together with daughter 5 yo Nza, celebrated with their Westminster co-workers, receiving the keys to their home on Dedication Sunday, October 16th.
We look forward to 2017 and the start of another Habitat for Humanity Home. Please join us--you need no building experience to join in the fun of the build, as you will learn amazing skills on site-- and the crews are ever thankful for your delicious meals.
Remember, the project is completely funded by your annual pledges, so please consider amending your pledge if you forgot to include your donation to the Habitat project. To God be the glory!
